STATE TRACK SEND-OFF!!!
This year's state-bound competitors will be leaving from Hiawatha high school at 12:00 noon on Thursday, May 26. It would be great to send them off in style with cheers and good luck wishes from friends, family and community members! We will leave the parking lot and head down Oregon Street until we hit highway 36!

USD 415 is in need of route bus drivers for the fall. A Class "B" or "A" CDL with the school bus and passenger endorsements is required and we will supply the study guide and paid training will be provided at no cost to you.

Clara Lindstrom, Kansas State High School Activities Association True Blue Scholarship recipient!
The Kansas State High School Activities Association partnering with Capitol Federal Foundation honored 34 students in the state of Kansas with a $2,000 scholarship made payable to a two-year or four-year accredited college, university or technical school in the name of the selected student.
In this initial year, 590 applications were received across the 34 different scholarships. Recipients were selected based on community service, academic achievement, activity achievement, breadth of school activity participation and financial need. Applications were reviewed by a panel of educators and stakeholders who support the mission of the Kansas State High School Activities Association.
Lakyn Leupold, Kansas ACT Scholar!
Lakyn was awarded this honor for achieving a composite score of 32 or above on the ACT assessment.
Allison Arment, recipient of the Ruth Dannenberg Scholarship in memory of Norman Koelliker.
This scholarship is given to a student planning to attend Kansas State University and major in any field which is related to agriculture. Ruth E. Koelliker Dannenberg was born near Robinson, Kansas, and lived on the family farm with her parents, Charles & Edna Koelliker, and younger brother, Norman. Ruth attended Hiawatha High School and graduated as a class valedictorian in 1927. She treasured her agricultural background and owned several farms in Brown County. In an effort to encourage young graduates of Hiawatha High School to pursue degrees in agricultural-related fields, Ruth directed that a scholarship to Kansas State University be established in memory of her brother, Norman Charles Koelliker, who died in 1935. Ruth passed away on March 17, 1993, and the first scholarship was awarded in May of 1993.

In order to earn the Citizenship Honors as a HHS graduate, a senior must have
· 98% or better of class work handed in on time
· 97% or better attendance
· Zero major discipline issues
· and active participation in school and community based on a points system

Karin Moorhous & Isabel Salcedo, recipients of the Roberta C. Burgert Scholarship.
Ms. Roberta C. Burgert graduated from Hiawatha High School in 1917 and began her life-long career as an educator that very year. Teaching first grade was her favorite. She retired in 1970 and returned to Hiawatha, where she pursued favorite hobbies of painting, playing the saxophone, piano and organ, and growing flowers. Throughout her life, she enjoyed nurturing children's minds and flowers--both very beautiful things. She passed away in 2000.

Athalia Hoschouer, Marcena H. Onstott Scholarship recipient!
Ms. Marcena H. Onstott taught kindergarten in the Hiawatha school system for many, many years. She passed away in 2004. Her gracious gift allows this scholarship to be made available for 30 years, and her wish was that it be awarded to a graduate indicating a desire to enter the education field.

Sydney Smith, PEO Chapter HU Scholarship recipient, in memory of Carol Speidel
Roy and Aleta Moore were lifelong residents of Brown County, Kansas, and moved to Hiawatha, Kansas, in 1975 retiring from a career of farming in the Robinson community. Mrs. Moore was the last to die in 1995, and in her Last Will and Testament, she established this testamentary trust for the award of the Moore Scholarship for graduating students from Hiawatha High School. The scholarship program began with the graduates of 1997 and will be in existence for a period of 20 years. In 2016, the funds were transferred to the USD #415 Educational Foundation with the purpose of continuing the tradition of assisting Hiawatha High School graduates in pursuing postsecondary educational opportunities. Congratulations to this year's recipients!
Miss Olson’s class enjoyed the end of the year by having themed days! They enjoyed Disney Day, Bubble Day, Camping Day and a few more! They had a great year and are ready to be first graders! #HESRedHawks
