Work Based Learning Spotlight: Sutton Diller
I’m Sutton Diller and I have been doing my my second work based learning activity with Lisa Pierce, the school psychologist for Brown County school districts. I mainly observe Mrs. Pierce and the many tasks she has to complete daily. Along with that, with parent consent, I have been able to sit in on different testings with several students. I plan to pursue a career in school psychology and this opportunity is a great way for me to prepare for my future. It’s very helpful to understand the wide range of tasks a school psychologist has and how they are able to adapt when different situations arise.

Work Based Learning Spotlight: Sutton Diller
I am Sutton Diller and I have been following Stacie Newell, a Title I teacher at Hiawatha Elementary School. My responsibilities include reading with different children and observing Mrs. Newell teach new techniques on how to solve math equations. I plan to work in a school setting in my future so I thought that working with Mrs. Newell would be a great way to learn about what some of my responsibilities could be. My time at the elementary school has been very educational and I am excited to see what else I will experience.

Preschool was learning about the letter V! V Is For Volcano! So much fun! #HESRedHawks

Work Based Learning Spotlight: Grace Maze
I do a Teaching Internship with Jackie Meyer at the Elementary school. These students in the picture above are the awesome fourth graders I get to work with! I grade papers and put papers in students’ mailboxes. I also take students out to the hall or to the back table and help them work on their math. Each day during social studies, I go around to different tables and help the students in any way I can with assignments. In this SDS I have learned multiple classroom management styles from Mrs. Meyer. I have also gained several ways to get the class’s attention and keep the students engaged. I have discovered different ways to set up my classroom and resources I can provide for my students in their learning. My goal is to gain as much knowledge about being a good teacher as I can, from this SDS. I have decided to go to the Elementary because I really enjoy teaching younger kids. My plan is to be an Elementary Education teacher and obtain a Bachelors in Education.

Work Based Learning Spotlight: Riley Scott
My Teaching Internship is at the Elementary School with Mrs. Sudbeck. Some of my responsibilities are making copies, helping some of the kids with tests, I help with small groups during Reading W.I.N. and I sharpen lots of pencils. I am observing what it’s like to be a first grade teacher and I chose to do this because I want to be an elementary teacher so I wanted to see if this was something I actually wanted to do. My goal is to use this time as learning before college so I know what to expect when I do student teaching.
