
Congratulations to Allison Arment! Allison was selected to receive the 2022 DEKALB Agricultural Accomplishment Award! This honor has been presented since 1947 to outstanding high school seniors with a superior record of scholarship, leadership and agricultural work experience.


The Kiwanis Club Scholarship is offered to area Hiawatha students who are incoming freshmen to a college in Kansas. Congratulations to recipients, Tyler Davis, Mackenzie Gormley, Michaela Gruber and Sidney Johansen!



Deputy Todd Widman Memorial Scholarship is given in honor & remembrance of the ultimate sacrifice made by Brown County Deputy Todd Michael Widman, a 1997 graduate of Hiawatha High School. Deputy Widman gave his life for the citizens in Brown County in 2001. This year’s recipient are Karin Moorhous, Sidney Johansen, Braydon Griswold, Jacob Rieger, Lakyn Leupold, Kyndra Lay, Clara Lindstrom, Dalton Simmer, & Kiara Stone.

Brown County Veterans Honor Guard scholarships are given to students from a family with a military service background. This year, the scholarship was awarded to Miclan Entrikin, Elizabeth Hinton, Lakyn Leupold, Tyler Meyers, Karin Moorhous, Kiara Stone and Paige Stover

Allison Arment was awarded the Most Active Senior Ag Student Award!
Allison completed a total of 11 courses in the Comprehensive Ag Pathway. She also applied for - and was selected to shadow Mr. Keith Figge, at Onaga. Allison plans to major in Ag Education at K State!

Eugene & Virginia Ruth Scholarships are awarded to graduates of Hiawatha High School who enrolls in a university, college, community college, or trade school. The selection is based solely upon academic excellence regardless of the financial resources of the student and/or his/her parents. Community involvement is also considered in making the selection. Congratulations to these students!

Congratulations to Jacob Rieger! He was the recipient of the Powhattan American Legion Post #373 Scholarship. This scholarship is given based on the belief that education can and will promote a better America.


Alice Dickinson Fahrendorff Scholarship was established in memory of Alice Dickinson Fahrendorff, a 1944 graduate of Hiawatha High School. Alice and husband Raleigh (Rolly) shared a desire to promote opportunities for self-advocacy and saw education as an investment in one’s future. This year’s recipient of the Fahrendorff/Dickinson Scholarship is Sidney Johansen!

Congratulations to Joel Bryan & Sidney Johansen, recipients of the Paul E. Rockey Memorial Scholarship! These scholarships are awarded to a senior baseball player and a senior softball player in memory of Paul E. Rockey, who graduated from Hiawatha High School in 1973. Paul was active in the Hiawatha Community as the president of the Hiawatha Sons of American Legion Squadron Post 66. In addition, he ran the Hiawatha Baseball Program, coached and managed American Legion Baseball for over 25 years, and was groundskeeper for Noble Baseball Park. He also established a local Major League Wiffleball organization. On October 6, 2018, Noble Baseball Park was renamed “Paul Rockey Field” in his honor.

Congratulations to Dalton Simmer. Dalton was the recipient of The Dale Dennis Excellence in Education Award is presented by the United School Administrators of Kansas. The selection is based on Service, Scholarship, and Citizenship & Common Sense.


The HHS Senior Artist of the Year Award is based on a devotion to art, quality of artwork, and involvement in art events. This year’s recipient is Kelley Tallent!


Second Grade had their first annual Antique Roadshow! This activity was to help students understand that things were different before they were born. Students brought their antiques from home. #HESRedHawks

Parents of athletes, you can get paid to go to your student's games/activities. If you have a Class "A" or "B" CDL with the passenger school bus endorsements, you are ready; if not we will help you and cover the costs involved.
The pay is $19/hour for driving time and $15/hour while at the event.
