Congratulations Claire Geiger for placing 8th in the 100M HH at the State Track and Field Championships.
Congratulations Emma, Kate, MJ, and Darcy for placing 6th in the 4x800M Relay at the State Track and Field Championships.
Congratulations Justin Hodge for placing 6th in the 3200M at the State Track and Field Championships with a time of 10:10.

Hiawatha USD 415 and HDEA recognizes teacher of the year! Congratulations to Mrs. Kylee Reschke for receiving this years honor. Kylee was nominated by her peers for being a caring role model who also sets high expectations for not only her students but her colleagues as well.
Come cheer & send off the HHS State Track kids as they leave for Wichita on Thursday, May 27th. Please line the exit area of Red Hawk Drive as they will depart at 11:00 from the high school parking lot.

Physicals for 7-12th graders will need to be completed by your health care provider before August 16th to participate in school athletics. KSHSAA physicals forms will be available at your provider.
Tehe Allen and Mary Meyer Memorial Scholarship was set up to honor the couple and provide assistance to a graduate pursuing a career in agriculture. Allen and Mary Meyer farmed and operated a dairy for over 50 years just south of Hiawatha. Mary taught school in Hiawatha for several years. Although they never had children of their own, they were strong supporters of the youth programs through the Zion Lutheran Church and 4-H. This year’s recipient is Nathan Wright.
Jerry Gifford began the Gifford Scholarship in 2006 to encourage the average student to pursue post-secondary education. Through his years of owning and operating a tool and die business, he saw the need for his employees to receive post-secondary training to develop the math and science skills to become a quality employee. This year’s scholarships go to Zoe Fix & Emily Meisenheimer.
Roberta C. Burgert Scholarship is in honor of Ms. Roberta C. Burgert.
She graduated from Hiawatha High School in 1917 and began her life-long career as an educator that very year. Teaching first grade was her favorite. She retired in 1970 and returned to Hiawatha, where she pursued favorite hobbies of painting, playing the saxophone, piano and organ, and growing flowers. Throughout her life, she enjoyed nurturing children's minds and flowers--both very beautiful things. She passed away in 2000. This year’s recipients are Nicole Stueve and Austin Coffelt.
Hiawatha ACES Arts & Theatre Scholarships are awarded to students who are majoring in either arts or theatre including illustration, fine arts, graphic design, etc. This year's recipients are: Ethan Pruitt, Nicole Stueve, and Morgan Hurn.
Citizens State Bank and Trust Scholarship is given to a graduating senior from Hiawatha High School who will be attending Highland Community College. Selection of the recipient is made by members of the Citizen’s State Bank. This year, the Citizen’s State Bank Scholarship is awarded to Athena Garza.
Genevieve Strahan was a lifelong resident of Brown County. She graduated from Hamlin High School in 1929 and attended college at Washburn University and Emporia State Teachers’ College, graduating in 1933. She was a long time public school teacher and administrator. The 2021 Genevieve Strahan Scholarship is awarded to Ethan Pruitt.
The Carol Nigus Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a graduate of Hiawatha High School who is enrolled as a full-time college student majoring in education and having an interest in completing a Special Education Degree. Carol Nigus was a long-time special education teacher and administrator in Brown County. She was devoted to serving special needs children and adults during her entire life. Carol’s husband founded the scholarship following her death to encourage graduates to pursue a career in special education and is awarded this year to senior: CYNTHIA LAW
The Deputy Todd Widman Memorial Scholarship is given in honor and remembrance of the ultimate sacrifice made by Brown County Deputy Todd Michael Widman, a 1997 graduate of Hiawatha High School. Deputy Widman gave his life for the citizens in Brown County in 2001. This year’s recipient are: Austin Coffelt, Abigail Lowe, Cynthia Law and Makayla Pilcher.
The Phyllis Jeanne Byer Kidwell Scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior attending full time at any post-secondary school. This year's recipient is Raven Stroud.

Awarded to select graduating females who will be attending a college or university. This year’s recipients are:
