Employees of Frontier Farm Credit came to HES to pack bags full of delicious food. The food items came from the donations received during the food fight. These bags will be sent home with students over winter break to provide extra nutrition while students are away. A big thank you to Frontier Farm Credit for their willingness to help support the students and families at HES!

Mrs. Dean's Creative Writing class and Mr. Leahy's Graphic Design class worked together on a gothic-inspired project. Creative Writing students each created their own gothic literature-style stories. Mr. Leahy's students then illustrated book covers to go with them.

A beautiful night of HHS vocal groups for the Winter Holiday Program lead by Mr Josh May. They did a tremendous job and it's always great to see the alumni joining them on stage!

This is a picture after one of my days at Amberwell. I was organizing and cleaning two areas of the PT area. I got done working with a patient with Lisa and I was putting stuff up and while I was there I decided to organize the two areas for my Spotlight assignment. The band holder on the wall is new and I got to put the bands up there, the tied ones and the untied ones because before the holder was there they were just around some on the floor messy. The other area with the rollers and physical therapy balls I cleaned them up neatly and lined them up better then they were. This is going to help me after high school because as a physical therapist you need to be neat and clean when trying to find stuff for a patient so you don't take a lot of time trying to find the equipment you need so when you need something you can find it immediately instead of having to take a lot more time looking for it.

HMS would like to thank WKG Sales and Service, Walker and Kyley Gatz, for the tour of their shop today. Some of our 8th graders have been learning about engines, trucking, and mechanics in their independent study and this was a great career connection for them! We were able to tour the facility, look at current trucks in the shop, compare truck parts to regular car parts and learn more about running a shop business!

Work Based Learning Spotlight: Ethan Morton, Amberwell Hiawatha
I am currently enrolled in a job shadow at Amberwell Hiawatha for Physical Therapy. I chose to shadow here because physical therapists get the opportunity to help young athletes recover from injuries. Yes they do help with every age group but I am a big sports guy and have dealt with injuries before. This experience is going to help me after high school because it gives me a head start on my career in maybe being a physical therapist. It also helps be able to talk with patients about injuries and I get to know different ways and techniques to help them recover and get back to 100%. In the photo, I am putting new sheets on the bed after a patient was in the room. It is very important to make sure that every piece of used equipment is being sanitized and wiped down to stop the spread of germs. This is very important because we never want someone to get sick after going to physical therapy. I plan to enjoy the last month and a half of my experience at Amberwell Hiawatha.
