Virginia Freese with the Hiawatha foundation granted the 4th Grade Redhawk leaders at Hiawatha Elementary $500 to donate to groups of their choosing. The Redhawk leaders did research and identified which areas they would like to put their money toward! Halle McPeak represented the Redhawk leaders on match day donating to the HESPTO, The Hiawatha trap club, the Hiawatha cheer club, and the Hiawatha championship sports complex.

This afternoon I took the Spanish students to the Mexican restaurant, El Canelo, for their final. This is something they do every year. We’ve done it all three years I’ve been here, and it was awesome to see more than fifty students attending the lunch. They were practicing their speaking skills from class in real life, ordering their meals in Spanish. They did an amazing job. I’m going to miss you all. Thank you! - Senior Xavier Caparros

The 4th graders have been hard at work during their art classes this past month! Creating one of the Hiawatha Chamber and Visitors Bureau’s Fiber Glass Maple Leaves that “blow around” town! This leaf will head to Hiawatha Parks & Recreation to be placed at the City of Hiawatha, KS lake! Students brainstormed what would look best to represent the fun at the lake and decided fishing and the ducks were the winning combination! A job well done!
The leaf will be displayed during the Hiawatha Community Foundation’s Match Dayy if parents would like to get a photo with their student with their amazing art!
