GrandFriend Day allows students to show off their HES pride to the adults in their lives. Every student has an adult visit them on GrandFriend day. If their own family cannot make it, many of our retired staff return to enjoy this great event with them. 🙂 #HESRedHawks #RedHawkReady

HES would like to paint rocks with all our students to participate in the community rock hunt! We know we need a LOT of rocks. If you have landscaping rocks, river rocks or other types of rocks you are willing to part with please bring them to our office! Thank you in advance! #HESRedHawks #APlusKan #RedHawkReady #HiawathaKSRocks #HiawathaRocks

Each week a student is the Super Kid of the week in Mrs. S. Bannister's class. On Fridays the student gets to bring a special guest to read to the class. This has become such a special time that the class looks forward to all week! #HESRedHawks #RedHawkReady

Students in Mrs. S. Bannister's class celebrated earning 36 Hawk blocks by doing a fall craft! #HESRedHawks #RedHawkReady

Mrs. Cole’s class was working on opinion writing. They made their own pumpkins and then wrote about why their pumpkin is the BEST. Mr. Carver joined in on the fun too! #HESRedHawks #APlusKan #ReadHawkReady

Miss Riley’s class just completed a cookie scientific lab to model the effects of weathering and erosion. The students used paperclips to break down the chocolate chips into smaller pieces (weathering) and then they blew on the cookie to show how wind can move pieces of rock and soil (erosion). #HESRedHawks #APlusKan #RedHawkReady
