USD 415 will be hosting an Entry Level Driver Training (ELDT) class and CDL Exam Proxy event on July 6 & 7, 2023 at the Hiawatha Middle School. Upon completion of the class and a passing grade on the CDL exam you will be ready to train behind the wheel and that will be done for prospective USD 415 Bus Drivers at our bus barn. 2023 School Sports Physical Event for $25 on August 2, 2023 from 3pm - 7pm Amberwell Primary Care 300 Utah Street Hiawatha, KS 66434 This one-time event makes getting high school and middle school school sports physicals easy and convenient. The cost is $25 per student at the time of the event. If this date does not work for you or your family, sports physicals can also be scheduled with an Amberwell primary care provider at a time more convenient for you by calling 785-742-2161 Reminders • Athlete must wear athletic attire. Hiawatha Agriscience Teacher Attends Professional Development Institute Jeanie Wege, agriscience educator at Hiawatha High School recently attended a Curriculum for Agricultural Science Education professional development institute at Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS to teach the Ag X (Introductory Agriscience) CASE curriculum. Wege also teaches Principles of Animal Science; Plant & Soil Science (Horticulture); Agricultural Power, Structure and Technology; Food Science and Safety; Agricultural Leadership & Communications; and Ag Business Management courses. CASE is an instructional system that is changing the culture of agriculture programs in the United States through teacher professional development; inquiry-based, student-focused lessons; assessment; and certification. Teachers use the curriculum to elevate student experiences in the agriculture classroom and prepare students for success in college and careers emphasizing science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). CASE is an initiative of The National Council for Agricultural Education. During the CASE Institute, Wege spent two days working through nearly every lesson in the year-long curriculum and learning how to deliver lessons in an inquiry-based way that will shift focus in the classroom from teacher-led to student-directed learning. “Students can look forward to hands-on instruction, lab experiments, and life skills lessons this fall in the West Campus Classroom and Lab,” said Wege.
